Celebrating its 25th year, Huancara combines Argentinean folk roots with the grooves of jazz, pop, and classical music. The quintet displays its musical virtuosity on a variety of traditional instruments including guitar, drums, marimba, charango, mandolin, erke, pututo, and others.
Formed in 1982, Huancara has performed internationally in cities and venues as varied as the Lincoln Center in New York, el Teatro Real in Madrid, the Festival of Pompeii in Italy, and Malaysia’s International Festival of Ethnic Music Masters. In the last few years, the group has participated in the Festival of Latin American Instrumental Music in Rio de Janeiro, and were special guests at the Cervantino Festival in Mexico.
